Method
Cauliflower Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cauliflower
Remove the leaves and stem from the cauliflower and cut it into bite-sized florets.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add water, whisking until you have a smooth batter.
- 3
Coat the Cauliflower
Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pan or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Cauliflower
Carefully add the battered cauliflower florets to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Buffalo Sauce
- 6
Make the Buffalo Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the hot sauce, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and honey (or maple syrup). Stir until well combined and heated through.
- 7
Toss the Cauliflower
In a large bowl, combine the fried cauliflower and buffalo sauce. Toss until all the florets are evenly coated in the sauce.
