Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tomatillos

Remove the husks from the tomatillos and rinse them under cold water to remove any stickiness.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Roughly chop the jalapeño (remove seeds for less heat if desired) and the garlic cloves. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cilantro

Rinse the cilantro under cold water and shake off excess water. Remove any thick stems.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Tomatillos

In a pot, bring water to a boil. Add the tomatillos and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until they are tender and change color to a dull green. Drain and let cool slightly.

  2. 5

    Blend the Ingredients

In a blender or food processor, combine the cooked tomatillos, chopped jalapeño, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Transfer the salsa verde to a serving bowl. Adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime juice if desired. Serve with tortilla chips, grilled meats, or tacos.
