Main Ingredients

Grilled Bread

Pickled Onion

Crème Fraîche

Method

Pickled Onion

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickled Onion

In a medium saucepan, combine white vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and salt dissolve.

  2. 2

    Slice and Soak

Thinly slice the red onion and add it to the boiling pickling liquid. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer to a jar and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Crème Fraîche

  1. 3

    Mix Crème Fraîche

In a small bowl, combine crème fraîche, lemon juice, and chopped fresh dill. Stir until well mixed and set aside.

Fried Fish

  1. 4

    Prepare the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add cold water, whisking until smooth and well combined.

  2. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 6

    Fry the Fish

Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Grilled Bread

  1. 7

    Grill the Bread

Brush both sides of the sourdough bread slices with olive oil. Grill on a preheated grill or grill pan over medium heat until toasted and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
