Crab Cakes

Spicy Tartar Sauce

Method

Crab Cakes Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the fresh crab meat, bread crumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped green onions, the egg, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Shape the crab mixture into patties, roughly 1/2 inch thick. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill Patties

Refrigerate the patties for at least 30 minutes to help them hold together while cooking.

  4. 4

    Cook Crab Cakes

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the crab cakes for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Spicy Tartar Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, chopped capers, diced pickles, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

BLT Assembly

  1. 6

    Cook Bacon

In a skillet, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  2. 7

    Toast Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns in the same skillet until golden.

  3. 8

    Assemble Sandwich

On the bottom half of each bun, place a crab cake, followed by crispy bacon, a leaf of lettuce, and a slice of tomato. Spread a generous amount of spicy tartar sauce on the top half of the bun and place it on top to complete the sandwich.
