Potatoes

Oil for frying

Method

Preparation of Potatoes

  1. 1

    Wash and Peel Potatoes

Thoroughly wash the Russet potatoes under cold running water. Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler, removing all skin.

  2. 2

    Cut Potatoes into Fries

Cut each potato lengthwise into 1/4 inch thick slices, and then cut those slices into 1/4 inch thick fries.

  3. 3

    Soak in Water

Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

Frying the Potatoes

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 5

    Dry the Fries

Remove the fries from the water and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  3. 6

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of fries into the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  4. 7

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt, paprika, and black pepper to taste.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve Hot

Serve the French fries hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces.
