Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a donut pan by greasing it lightly with cooking spray or butter.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the apple cider, egg, melted unsalted butter (cooled slightly), and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Baking

  1. 5

    Fill the Pan

Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

  2. 6

    Bake Donuts

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.

  3. 7

    Cool Down

Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Topping

  1. 8

    Prepare Sugar Coating

In a shallow bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping.

  2. 9

    Coat Donuts

While the donuts are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
