Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until combined.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch (30cm) circle.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce

Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface.

  4. 9

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Add oregano and black pepper on top.

  5. 10

    Drizzle Olive Oil

Drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil over the cheese.

  6. 11

    Bake the Pizza

Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 12

    Slice and Serve

Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice into wedges, and serve hot.
