Method

Preparation of Benedictine Spread

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cucumber

Wash the cucumber thoroughly under cold water. Slice it in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds using a spoon. Then, chop the cucumber into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cucumber, cream cheese, mayonnaise, finely chopped green onions, dill weed, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Assembling the Benedictine

  1. 4

    Toast the Bread (Optional)

If desired, lightly toast the slices of bread until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Serving Plate

On a serving plate, lay out the lettuce leaves to create a bed for the Benedictine sandwiches.

  3. 6

    Spread the Mixture

Take the chilled Benedictine spread from the refrigerator. Generously spread the mixture onto each slice of bread.

  4. 7

    Cut and Serve

Cut each slice of bread into quarters or triangles. Arrange the sandwiches on the prepared lettuce leaves and serve immediately.
