Method
For the Onion Rings
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until smooth.
- 3
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Then, roll it in breadcrumbs for an extra crispy texture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place a few coated onion rings into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
For the Ranch Dressing
- 6
Mix the Ingredients
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
- 7
Chill the Dressing
Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to enhance the flavors.
