Toppings

Method

Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Burger

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side.

  2. 4

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Burger

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 6

    Complete the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, then the cooked patty with melted cheese, followed by a slice of tomato. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.
