Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cake Batter

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cakes

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

  8. 8

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat together the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.

  9. 9

    Frost the Cakes

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  10. 10

    Serve

Slice the cake into 12-15 pieces and serve.
