Steak

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Season generously on both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the ribeye steak to the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms.

  3. 3

    Add Garlic

Add whole garlic cloves to the skillet. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Preparing Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 5

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the large potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 6

    Cook the Potatoes

Boil the potatoes for 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.

  3. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Add the butter, heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 8

    Serve

Serve the garlic mashed potatoes alongside the sliced ribeye steak.
