Muddle the Mint
In a sturdy glass, add the 10 fresh mint leaves and 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the mint leaves to release their oils and combine them with the sugar. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much.

Add Lime Juice
Pour in the 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice over the muddled mint and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine everything.

Incorporate the Rum
Add 2 ounces of white rum to the mixture and stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Finishing Touch

Add Soda Water
Top off the mixture with 4 ounces of soda water. Stir gently to combine without losing the fizz.

Garnish and Serve
Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge, if desired. Serve immediately with ice.
