Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty that is slightly larger than the burger bun.

Cooking the Mushrooms

  1. 3

    Sauté the Mushrooms

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic and Thyme

Stir in the minced garlic and chopped thyme, and cook for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 5

    Grill the Patties

Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  2. 6

    Flip and Add Cheese

Flip the patties, and place two slices of Swiss cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

While the burgers are finishing, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

Place each patty on a bun and top generously with the sautéed mushrooms. Add the top bun to finish.
