Pulled Pork Preparation

Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mix all over the pork shoulder.

Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water around the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker to keep warm.

Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Jim Beam bourbon, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.

Simmer the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes until slightly thickened.

Mix with Pulled Pork
Once the sauce is ready, pour it over the shredded pork in the slow cooker. Stir well to combine and let it heat through for an additional 10-15 minutes.

Prepare the Buns
Slice the Kaiser buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.

Assemble the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each bun, pile on a generous amount of the pulled pork mixed with BBQ sauce. Top with coleslaw if using.

Place the top half of the bun on the sandwich and serve immediately while warm.
