Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Mixing the Meat

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.

  2. 2

    Shaping the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, ensuring they're slightly larger than the burger buns.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Grilling the Patties

Preheat a grill or frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 4

    Cooking the Bacon

In a skillet, cook bacon strips until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  2. 5

    Sautéing Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions until caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Layering Cheese

On the bottom half of each burger bun, place a cooked patty, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese, then a slice of cheddar cheese.

  2. 7

    Stacking the Ingredients

Top with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and 2 pieces of crispy bacon. Add another burger patty on top.

  3. 8

    Completing the Burger Assembly

Finally, place the top half of the bun and secure with a toothpick if needed. Repeat for all burgers.

Serving

    Serving Suggestion

Serve the Hay Stack Burgers with a side of rooster sauce for dipping.
