Method

Preparing the Hash Browns

  1. 1

    Cook the Hash Browns

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the frozen hash browns, spreading them evenly in the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the other side is also golden and crispy. Remove from heat and keep warm.

Egg and Sausage Mixture

  1. 2

    Scramble the Eggs

In a bowl, whisk together 2 whole eggs, and season with salt and pepper to taste. In a separate skillet, sauté 0.5 cups of chopped onion in a little oil over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the 100 grams of cooked and crumbled sausage to the onions and stir until heated through. Pour the scrambled eggs over the sausage and onion mixture, stirring gently until the eggs are fully cooked. Remove from heat.

Making the Sausage Gravy

  1. 3

    Prepare the Gravy

In the same skillet used for the sausage, add 50 grams of cooked sausage and sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour over it. Stir to combine and cook for about 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste. Gradually add 1 cup of milk while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes. Season with 0.5 teaspoon of salt and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Skillet

To serve, place a generous portion of crispy hash browns on a plate. Spoon the scrambled egg and sausage mixture over the hash browns, then generously ladle the sausage gravy on top. Finally, sprinkle 0.5 cups of shredded cheddar jack cheese over the entire skillet. Serve immediately.
