Method

Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and form into burger patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired doneness.

Onion Rings

  1. 4

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the large onion into 1/4 inch thick rings and separate them.

  2. 5

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.

  3. 6

    Batter the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.

  4. 7

    Fry the Onion Rings

In a deep skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Fry the battered onion rings in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of the burger bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a cooked patty, a slice of cheddar cheese, a handful of cheese curds, and a generous portion of onion rings.

  2. 9

    Add the Toppings

Top with tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately with a side of extra onion rings or fries.
