Method

Preparation of Pickles

  1. 1

    Slice the Pickles

Cut each dill pickle lengthwise into quarters to create pickle spears. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Batter Preparation

  1. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. The batter should be thick.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, add vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat the Pickle Spears

Dip each pickle spear into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.

  3. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the battered pickle spears into the hot oil, a few at a time, to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.

  4. 7

    Drain and Cool

Once fried, remove the pickles with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve with Dressing

Serve the country fried pickle spears warm with ranch dressing on the side for dipping. Enjoy!
