Burger Patties

Mushroom and Onion Topping

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Season the Ground Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

Cooking the Toppings

  1. 3

    Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced red onions and sauté until they are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add the Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Grilling the Burger Patties

  1. 5

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 6

    Cook the Patties

Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of Swiss cheese on each. Continue to grill for another 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a slice of tomato. Add the grilled patty with melted Swiss cheese, topped with the sautéed mushrooms and onions. Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the bun and place it on top of the burger.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Immediately

Serve the burgers immediately while hot, with your choice of side dishes.
