Burger Patties
Bun and Toppings
Method
Preparing the Patties
- 1
Shape the Patties
In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the ground beef into 2 equal portions, each weighing approximately 0.25 pounds. Shape each portion into a patty, making them slightly larger than the bun to allow for shrinkage during cooking.
- 2
Grill the Patties
Preheat a flat-top grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.
Assembling the Burger

Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the kaiser buns in half. Optionally, you can toast the insides of the buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by the first patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and a slice of onion. Add the second patty with melted cheese on top of the first layer.
