Cured Brown Sugar Bacon
Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Cure
In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, whiskey, and maple syrup. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Cure the Bacon
Rub the cure mixture generously over the bacon strips, ensuring they are well coated on all sides. Place the bacon in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish, cover it, and refrigerate for at least 5 days, flipping the bacon every day.
- 3
Rinse and Dry
After 5 days, remove the bacon from the refrigerator. Rinse off the cure mixture under cold water and pat the bacon dry with paper towels.
- 4
Cook the Bacon
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the cured bacon strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
