Method
Cooking Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4-5 liters of water to a rolling boil.
- 2
Add Salt
Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.
- 3
Cook Linguini
Add 400 grams of linguini to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 4
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and then drain the linguini using a colander.
Making Sauce
- 5
Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- 6
Sauté Garlic
Add 4 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
- 7
Add Red Pepper Flakes
Stir in 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- 8
Add Cherry Tomatoes
Add the 500 grams of halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the tomatoes are softened and begin to burst.
- 9
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained linguini to the skillet with the tomato mixture. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to help coat the pasta.
- 10
Finish with Basil and Cheese
Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of chopped fresh basil and 100 grams of grated Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
