In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil and add 1 tablespoon of salt.

Add 12 ounces of fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes until al dente.

Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccine and set aside.
Making the Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream and stir to combine with the butter and garlic, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.

Combining Pasta and Sauce
