Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Rinse the collard greens thoroughly to remove any grit. Remove the stems and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.

  2. 2

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add the Turkey

Add the smoked turkey leg to the pot and pour in the chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Add the Greens and Seasoning

Stir in the chopped collard greens, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well.

  5. 5

    Braised Cooking

Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Let the collard greens braise for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and flavorful.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove the smoked turkey leg, shred the meat, and return it to the pot if desired. Serve the braised collard greens warm.
