Method

Preparation of Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ground Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the seasoned ground beef into four equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F).

  2. 4

    Grill the Patties

Place the beef patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for another 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are grilling, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill for about 1-2 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a grilled patty with melted cheddar, a slice of tomato (sliced from the medium tomato), and any optional condiments such as ketchup or mustard.

  3. 7

    Finish and Serve

Top with the other half of the bun, secure with a skewer if needed, and serve immediately while hot.
