Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 7-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the egg, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
