Focaccia Ingredients

Method

Focaccia Directions

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and 1/4 cup of olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Pan

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet with olive oil.

  5. 5

    Shape the Focaccia

Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Stretch the dough to fit the pan, making dimples with your fingers.

  6. 6

    Add Toppings

Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the top, sprinkle with coarse sea salt, and scatter fresh rosemary.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Let the focaccia cool slightly before slicing and serving warm with homemade butter.
