Pizza Dough

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Pizza Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil, and mix until a dough forms. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sauces

Prepare or choose your sauces. If making pesto, blend basil, garlic, pine nuts, Parmesan, and olive oil until smooth. For vegan pesto, replace cheese with nutritional yeast and use walnuts or almonds. For ricotta, simply mix with a little salt and pepper. For Sonoran cream sauce, blend sour cream with lime juice, garlic, and cilantro.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Pizza

Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Place on a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread your chosen sauce over the base. Add toppings of your choice (like cheese, meats, or veggies).

  4. 4

    Bake the Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Remove from oven, let it cool slightly, and slice.
