Method

Preparation of Batter

  1. 1

    Beat the Eggs

In a mixing bowl, crack the eggs and beat them until they are well blended.

  2. 2

    Add Milk and Flavorings

Add the milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt to the beaten eggs. Whisk together until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Cooking French Toast

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Place a skillet or griddle on medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface.

  2. 4

    Batter the Bread

Take a slice of the thick cut French bread and dip it into the batter, ensuring both sides are well coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.

  3. 5

    Cook the Bread

Place the battered slice onto the preheated skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crisp. Repeat with the remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate and Serve

Stack the cooked French toast on a plate and serve warm with maple syrup or your choice of homemade fruit syrup drizzled on top.
