Country Fried Steak
1. Prepare the Steak
Season sirloin cube steaks with salt and black pepper. Dredge each steak in flour, then dip into beaten eggs mixed with milk, and finally coat with bread crumbs.
2. Fry the Steak
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded steaks and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and let drain on paper towels.
Sausage Gravy
3. Cook the Sausage
In the same skillet used for the steak, add ground sausage and cook over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Break up the sausage as it cooks.
4. Make the Gravy
Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste.
Hashbrowns
5. Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and shred the potatoes. Rinse in cold water and drain well. Finely chop the onion.
6. Cook the Hashbrowns
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shredded potatoes and onion, season with salt and black pepper, and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 8-10 minutes, flipping occasionally.
