Crispy Chicken Sandwich
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken breasts and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken breasts in the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Prepare the Chipotle Mayo
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and chipotle in adobo sauce. Mix well and set aside.
- 7
Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the tomato and prepare the coleslaw. Spread chipotle mayo on the bottom half of each burger bun. Place fried chicken on top, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese, tomato slices, and a generous amount of coleslaw. Top with the other half of the bun.
- 8
Cook the Fries
Prepare fries according to package instructions, or fry fresh potatoes until golden and crispy.
- 9
Serve
Serve the crispy chicken sandwiches hot with a side of fries.
