Method

Main Dish

  1. 1

    Prepare the Corned Beef

Rinse the corned beef brisket under cold water to remove excess salt. Place it in a large pot.

  2. 2

    Add Seasoning and Water

Add water, garlic cloves, bay leaves, and black peppercorns to the pot. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the brisket is tender.

  4. 4

    Prepare Vegetables

While the meat is cooking, cut the cabbage into wedges, peel and chop the carrots, and peel the potatoes.

  5. 5

    Add Vegetables

After the brisket has cooked for about 2 hours, add the cabbage, carrots, and potatoes to the pot. Cook for an additional 30-40 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove the brisket from the pot, let it rest for a few minutes, then slice against the grain. Serve with the vegetables.

Side Dish

  1. 7

    Prepare the Butter Sauce

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.

  2. 8

    Season

Once melted, add chopped fresh parsley, salt, and black pepper to taste. Stir to combine.

  3. 9

    Serve

Drizzle the butter sauce over the cooked vegetables before serving.

Dessert

  1. 10

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 11

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 12

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add buttermilk, vanilla extract, and green food coloring to create a vibrant green color.

  4. 13

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. 14

    Bake

Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 15

    Cool and Serve

Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack. Serve once cooled.
