Method

Crab Cakes Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, egg, bread crumbs, green onion, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form Cakes

Using your hands, form the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter. You should be able to make about 8 cakes.

  3. 3

    Chill

Place the crab cakes on a baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Cooking the Crab Cakes

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Cook Cakes

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Be careful when flipping them over.

  3. 6

    Drain

Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and let them drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Chipotle Aioli Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix Aioli Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, minced chipotle peppers, and lime juice until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Maple Drizzle Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare Drizzle

In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the maple syrup until it is slightly thinner, about 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Place the crab cakes on a serving plate. Drizzle with the chipotle aioli and then lightly drizzle the warm maple syrup over the top.

  2. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with additional green onions if desired and serve immediately while hot.
