Method

Cookies

  1. 1

    Prepare the dough

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

  2. 2

    Combine dry ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  3. 3

    Add chocolate chips

Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  4. 4

    Shape and bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop tablespoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden.

  5. 5

    Cool and serve

Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Brownies

  1. 6

    Melt butter and mix

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 7

    Add eggs and vanilla

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

  3. 8

    Combine with flour

Stir in the all-purpose flour until just combined (do not overmix).

  4. 9

    Bake the brownies

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the brownie batter into a greased 8-inch square baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  5. 10

    Cool and cut

Allow brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into bite-sized squares.
