Method

Frappé Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Espresso

Brew 1 cup of espresso using your preferred method, and let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Blend the Ingredients

In a blender, combine the brewed espresso, 1 cup of milk, 2 cups of ice, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix the Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Cook the Sauce

Place the saucepan over medium heat, and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Stir frequently until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Flavor

Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Allow to cool slightly before using.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Frappé

Pour the blended frappé mixture into a tall glass. Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the top, and if desired, add extra sauce along the sides of the glass.

  2. 7

    Serve

Top with whipped cream if desired, and serve immediately with a straw or spoon.
