Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). This is important to ensure the ham cooks evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ham

Place the bone-in ham in a large roasting pan. Make sure the fat side is facing up.

  3. 3

    Mix the Glaze

In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and black pepper. Mix until you have a smooth glaze.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Apply the Glaze

Spoon the glaze over the ham, making sure to cover it evenly. Reserve some glaze for later basting.

  2. 5

    Add Water

Pour 2 cups of water into the bottom of the roasting pan. This will help to keep the ham moist during cooking.

  3. 6

    Bake the Ham

Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes per pound. For a 1 kg ham, this will be approximately 1.5 hours.

  4. 7

    Baste the Ham

Every 30 minutes, baste the ham with the reserved glaze to enhance the flavor and color.

  5. 8

    Remove the Foil

In the last 30 minutes of cooking, remove the foil to allow the ham to brown nicely.

  6. 9

    Check the Internal Temperature

Ensure the ham reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.

  7. 10

    Let it Rest

Once cooked, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

Serving

  1. 11

    Garnish and Serve

Slice the ham and arrange it on a serving platter. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley, pineapple slices, and cherries for a festive presentation.
