Burger Preparation

   Prepare the Patties

   In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, then form into two equal patties.

   Cook the Patties

   Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. If making a cheeseburger, add a slice of cheese on top in the last minute of cooking to melt.

   Toast the Buns

   While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

   Assemble the Burger

   Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun. Add lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.

   Serve

   Serve the burgers with your choice of drink and one side: applesauce, fries, or kids salad.
