Shumai Filling
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- 2
Assemble the Shumai
Take a shumai wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center. Gather the edges of the wrapper and pleat it around the filling, leaving the top exposed. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- 3
Steam the Shumai
Prepare a steamer and line the bottom with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. Arrange the shumai in the steamer, making sure they do not touch. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.
- 4
Serve
Remove the shumai from the steamer and serve hot with soy sauce or chili sauce for dipping.
