Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.

On two slices of bread, layer lettuce leaves, followed by tomato slices, and then the cooked bacon. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.

Top with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down. Press down gently to secure the layers.

Pour in the canned diced tomatoes (with juices), red kidney beans, and black beans (drained and rinsed). Stir to combine everything thoroughly.

In a large bowl, mash the black beans using a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

Add the oats, grated carrot, chopped bell pepper, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper to the mashed beans. Mix until well combined.

If using an egg, beat it in a separate bowl and then add it to the mixture. For a flax egg, combine 1 tablespoon of flaxseed meal with 3 tablespoons of water, let it sit for a few minutes, and then add to the mixture.

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each into a patty shape.

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
