Preparation Steps
Prepare the Yucca
Peel the yucca, remove the central fibrous core, and cut it into 2-inch pieces.
Boil the Yucca
In a pot of boiling salted water, cook the yucca pieces for about 20-25 minutes, or until tender.
Drain and Cool
Drain the yucca and let it cool for a few minutes. Once cooled, flatten each piece with a fork or the palm of your hand.
Fry the Yucca
In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the flattened yucca pieces for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Season and Serve
Remove the tostones from the oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt and garlic powder. Serve hot with lime wedges on the side.
