Preparation Steps

1

Prepare the Yucca

Peel the yucca, remove the central fibrous core, and cut it into 2-inch pieces.

2

Boil the Yucca

In a pot of boiling salted water, cook the yucca pieces for about 20-25 minutes, or until tender.

3

Drain and Cool

Drain the yucca and let it cool for a few minutes. Once cooled, flatten each piece with a fork or the palm of your hand.

4

Fry the Yucca

In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the flattened yucca pieces for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

5

Season and Serve

Remove the tostones from the oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt and garlic powder. Serve hot with lime wedges on the side.
