Directions

1

Prepare the Plantains

Peel the green plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.

2

Fry the Plantains

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the plantain slices and fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden yellow.

3

Press the Plantains

Remove the fried plantains from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Using the bottom of a flat plate or a tostonera, press each slice to flatten them to about 1/2 inch thick.

4

Second Fry

Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for another 2-3 minutes until they are crispy and golden brown.

5

Season and Serve

Remove the tostones from the oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt and garlic powder. Drizzle with lime juice before serving.
