Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Bake the Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour the batter into greased cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool completely.
- 2
Prepare the Layers
Once the cakes are cooled, level the tops if necessary. Place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of chocolate ganache on top. Drizzle with ocean caramel sauce. Repeat with the second layer.
- 3
Add S'Mores Toppings
Top the second layer with a generous amount of graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate pieces. You can lightly toast the marshmallows if desired for extra flavor.
- 4
Serve with Ice Cream
Cut the cake into slices and serve each slice with a scoop of sourdough ice cream on the side. Drizzle additional caramel sauce over the ice cream if desired.
