Prepare the Ice Cream Base
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.

Churn the Ice Cream
Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Add Cherries and Chocolate Chips
During the last few minutes of churning, add the pitted and halved black cherries and chocolate chips to the ice cream maker. Allow them to mix in evenly.

Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
