Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the red cabbage into thin strips, chop the apple into small cubes, and dice the onion.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Onion

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Cabbage and Apple

Add the sliced red cabbage and chopped apple to the pot. Stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Season the Mixture

Add the vegetable broth, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper, and caraway seeds to the pot. Stir to integrate the flavors.

  5. 5

    Cook the Rotkraut

Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.

  6. 6

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.

  7. 7

    Serve Warm

Serve the warm Rotkraut as a side dish with your favorite meal.
