Caprese Salad Ingredients
Method
Caprese Salad Directions
- 1
Prepare Ingredients
Start by gathering all the ingredients on a clean countertop or table.
- 2
Slice Tomatoes
Wash the ripe tomatoes thoroughly. Slice each tomato into 1/4-inch thick slices, discarding the stem ends. Set aside.
- 3
Slice Mozzarella
Take the fresh mozzarella cheese and slice it into 1/4-inch thick slices. Ensure the slices are similar in size to the tomato slices for a uniform presentation.
- 4
Arrange on Serving Plate
On a large serving plate, alternate layers of the sliced tomatoes and mozzarella. Place a slice of mozzarella next to a slice of tomato until all slices are arranged in a circular pattern or in a straight line, depending on your preference.
- 5
Add Basil
Tear fresh basil leaves into smaller pieces and sprinkle them over the arranged tomatoes and mozzarella. You can also place whole leaves for a more visually appealing look.
- 6
Drizzle with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar
Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly over the salad. Follow with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar for added flavor.
- 7
Season
Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the salad. Adjust to taste according to your preference.
- 8
Serve
Serve the Caprese salad immediately, preferably at room temperature, to enjoy the freshness of the ingredients.
