Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Romaine Lettuce

Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold running water. Remove any damaged outer leaves. Pat dry with a paper towel or use a salad spinner to remove excess water. Chop or tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Croutons

If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup and set aside. If making homemade croutons, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut 2 slices of bread into cubes, toss with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Grate the Parmesan Cheese

Using a box grater or a food processor, grate 0.5 cups of Parmesan cheese for the salad. Reserve 2 tablespoons for the dressing.

Dressing Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Caesar Dressing

In a mixing bowl, combine 0.5 cups of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 1 minced garlic clove. Whisk together until well combined. Add 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, and 0.25 teaspoons of black pepper. Whisk again until smooth.

  2. 5

    Combine the Salad

In a large bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce. Pour the prepared Caesar dressing over the lettuce and toss gently to coat the leaves evenly. Add the croutons and the remaining grated Parmesan cheese, and toss lightly.
