Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prep the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Using a curly fry cutter, spiralize the potatoes into curly shapes. If you don’t have a spiralizer, you can use a knife to cut them into thin strips.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the curly fries in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch, making the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Fries

Drain the curly fries and pat them dry with paper towels. Toss them in the cornstarch mixture until well coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Curly Fries

Carefully add the coated curly fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve hot, seasoned with additional salt and your favorite dipping sauces.
