Cocktail Ingredients

Method

Cocktail Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the mint and sugar

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press down on the mint leaves to release their oils and aroma. Be careful not to shred the leaves too much.

  2. 2

    Add lime juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into the glass with the muddled mint and sugar. You can also cut the lime into wedges and drop them in for a stronger lime flavor, if desired.

  3. 3

    Pour in the rum

Add the white rum to the glass, mixing it with the muddled mint, sugar, and lime juice. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.

  4. 4

    Add ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill the cocktail. You can use crushed ice for a slushier texture or whole cubes for a more classic presentation.

  5. 5

    Top with club soda

Pour the club soda over the ice until the glass is filled. This adds a refreshing fizz to the drink.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish your mojito with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw.
