Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Linguine

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water and then drain the pasta.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Garlic

While the pasta is cooking, peel and finely chop the garlic cloves.

  3. 3

    Halve the Cherry Tomatoes

Rinse the cherry tomatoes under cold water and then slice them in half.

  4. 4

    Chop the Basil

Wash the basil leaves, pat them dry, and chop them roughly.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.

  2. 6

    Add Cherry Tomatoes

Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until they soften and start to burst.

  3. 7

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked linguine to the skillet with the tomatoes. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a light sauce.

  4. 8

    Season the Dish

Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Stir in the chopped basil and mix well.

  5. 9

    Serve

Remove the skillet from heat and serve the pasta in bowls. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
